Selecting Columns

How do you select a column of data, for example Column A, row 1 through row 300. Instead strolling down column A, manualling selecting row 1 through row 300, is there a shortcut to select all the text in a particular column that avoids scrolling/

In the address bar (just above the A column header) type A1:A300 and press Enter.
