Hi

I have a Custom List added to my Sort options.
This contains 10 names of people that need to be at the top of the list. (Person A - Person J)
That works fine with the list.

BUT...

The table contains also other names. (Person K - ...)
And I don't want them to be sorted alphabetically - just keep them where they are.

Is that possible?

thx
Roeland

by using MANY helper stages I produced what you want
in fairness all these helpers could be hidden way over to the right
a list of names to be fixed is used to mark the fixed names in column B
the names are then given their row number with 999 added to fixed names
these are listed in ascending order in column E
weith the associated name in column F
each letter in the name is given a number from the table in column S
column M is the totals in ascending order
column N is the new name order
column O is column C in ascending order
column P merely re converts the 999+ numbers to their original order
the last lower table is column P in ascending order with the name associated in col M
PHEW

<colgroup><col span="3"><col><col span="18"></colgroup><tbody>
</tbody>

Wow, thanks!

Meanwhile, I also found a solution with a few helper columns. I think it's the only possibility...
Maybe Excel should integrate a STOP in the sorting option like they have in the Conditional Formating.

Oh well, it keeps us busy :)
