SUMIF Function Various Conditions

I have an exported excel spreadsheet listing ledger numbers mixed in with text. Under the ledger numbers there are earnings and deduction codes with amounts. On a separate excel tab I have ledger codes that I want to look up on the first sheet and sum the amounts of only the earnings codes. I am thinking the best way is to use a SUMIF function with multiple conditions: (1) if a column on the first spreadsheet contains a certain ledger number mixed in with text (2) if the next column under that ledger number contains certain earnings codes (3) Sum the amounts of the earnings codes that match under that specific ledger number.

Any help in writing a function to help me with this is much appreciated!
