I'm trying to create a summary sheet of data I've put into jan thru dec sheets. I want a formula that will enter the name of the item and the amount. The names are the same each month however they can come from several different columns. I tried the following and it didn't work: l-sumif(january!$b$3:$b$38,"chase bank 9898",January!$c$3:$c38)+sumif(january!$f$3:$f$38,"chase bank 9898",january!$g$3:$g$38.

Excel Facts

Copy PDF to Excel
Select data in PDF. Paste to Microsoft Word. Copy from Word and paste to Excel.
Make sure you have the right syntax =SUMIF(January!$B$3:$B$38,"chase bank 9898",January!$C$3:$C38)+SUMIF(January!$F$3:$F$38,"chase bank 9898",January!$G$3:$G$38)
and that your data in B:B and F:F are chase bank 9898 even one extra space like chase- bank- 9898 will cause it to not sum.
