Hello Guys,

is there a way to use this formula with closed workbook.

countif(workbookname!A:A;"FB*")

sumproduct(--(workbookname!A:A="FB*")) this work with exact text not with *

thanks and regards

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Wildcards dont't work like that insumproduct

Try
sumproduct(--(LEFT(workbookname!A1:A1000,2)="FB"))

Note, I highly recommend NOT using entire column refernces like A:A in sumproduct.
