Hi

I am trying to put a macro on my work colleague's MAC.

We are running Excel 2016 but when I try to record a macro, I get the following error:

Personal Macro Workbook in the startup folder must stay open for recording.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Excel Facts

Excel Can Read to You
Customize Quick Access Toolbar. From All Commands, add Speak Cells or Speak Cells on Enter to QAT. Select cells. Press Speak Cells.
Perhaps your Personal Macro workbook has been disabled?

I don't have a Mac here for testing, but in Windows you'd go to manage Addins and check the Disabled items list.

if its the bit that says Excel Add-ins, there are 2 there "Analysis Toolpak" and "Solver Add In" both of which are unticked.

I can't see a personal macro section here so maybe I'm in the wrong place.

In Windows, it's under Options, I can't recall where it is (or if it exists) in the Mac version, but will check later if someone doesn't jump in in the meantime.

Hi Rory

Just to let you know, i have found the problem with this now.

I believe someone had deleted the personal macro where it would be saved on start up on excel.

Just restored from the trash bin and it happens to work now.

Thanks for letting me know. I confess I didn't have time to look into it last night.
