Conditional Formatting

Hi,

I am attempting to use conditional formatting to highlight any cells in a column that meet certain criteria. Simply put, if the difference between cell one (a date) and cell two (a prior date) exceeds a certain number (the number of days between the two dates) I want that cell to be highlighted a certain color. I did something similar years ago using IF THEN, but I can't recall how to do that either. Conditional formatting seems more simple, but I just can't quite figure it out for some reason. To be clear, I have figured out how to do conditional formatting for one set of cells (e.g., C5-B5>730); however, I am having some trouble copying that formula for other cells on my worksheet. When I attempt to copy the formula, it highlights the entire column C instead of just the individual cell. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying

re you saying that you are comparing all values contained in col C with the value in B5 ? Or are the cells to be compared in col B and col C ?

Hello and welcome to the forum. Try this:

Select the range that you want the Conditional Formatting applied to > Conditional Formatting > New Rule > Use a formula

=$C5-$B5 > 730

Format: Fill color of your choice > OK > OK.

This assumes that the range you highlighted starts in row 5.

I am attempting to highlight C5, for instance, if the value of C5-B5 is greater than a certain number.

I think that might have done it. Thanks!
