Conditional Formatting

When I format paint cells using Paint from a cell that has conditional formatting applied, the results seem to be fine, but the conditions for the copied cells don't change - see attached.

In other words, the Condition value doesn't change, but it applies to the entire range I copied it to. Shouldn't the cell value change as well or is this the intended behavior? Again, it seems to be working, so guessing all is good. It just seems like an odd thing.

Thanks

Hi David,

Could you provide us with a formula (rule) that you are applying to your cells?

I suspect that you are using absolute references. Let's assume that you have a rule that changes font colour to red if a cell's value is greater than 0. If you apply it to cell B2, the formula will look something like that:
=$B$2>0

If you copy this Conditional Formatting rule to another cell (using Format Painter), the rule will still refer to $B$2 because of absolute references. In order to make sure that your rule will shift cell's address properly, simply convert your formula to:
=B2>0

Let me know if that's the case.
