count rows after sorting or filtering

Would someone who can help me on how to count how many rows after sorting or filtering by using formula.

=subtotal(3,d2:d16)

=subtotal(103,d2:d16)

for the filtered column as long as you aren't filtering for blanks, change the range to suit.
