COUNTA with exception

I have a COUNTA formula running and returning results correctly. I want to amend the formula so that an exclusion is not counted. In this case, i am counting all cells with values in a large range, but i want to exclude a particular value.

COUNTIF with exception would not work for this case based on my knowledge.

Any help appreciated.

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
What's the current formula and what value do you want to exclude? You could just use:

Code:
=COUNTA({Range})-COUNTIF({Range},{Exclude Value})

I think you could also use COUNTIFS. Example: Counting values in B1:B8 but not "abc"

=COUNTIFS(B1:B8,"<>",B1:B8,"<>abc")
