how to find last occurrence of repeated value, average, and count how many times it occurred in a column

column b is the column I get my values from a1 would be a helper column that's numeric that indicates days

I need a formula that will tell me how many times the S REPEATED 3 times REFERENCE TO column a, i need the average times S repeats 3 times, and I need the last time S repeated 3 times in reference to column a (the helper row). Note column a goes up to 8500 values

The answer to the first question should be 2, because S repeated
Itself 3 times twice. Reference B1: b8500
I think the average should be 6,

And last occurrence answer should be 8 via column a1: a8500, that's the last time S repeated 3 times



Please help been struggling to figure this one out..

funny u ask that, in fact the "s" will be more than three sometimes and i need to know the the formula in case it does happen 4 5 or 6 times. i can use variables if i want to know if it is more than 3 times or less than 3 times. i have a small 29k xls file i wish i could send to u to show in detail what i am trying to do

is there any way i can get a average based on a column. question: based on the 12 draws, what is the average amount of times "s" repeats 3 times formula

the only problem im having with the formula in f2 is say for instance the s repeated more than 3 times. if "s" repeated five times. the result wont be correct. what should i add to the formula to prevent if returning value if "s" repeats more than 3 times in a row, or even if it repeat less than 3 times. like if i wanted to know if it repeats only once?

As you can see, in the first instance, "S" occurs three times. In the second instance, "S" occurs three times. In the last instance, "S" occurs four times.

When is the last time that "S" repeated three times? Is the corresponding number in Column A the number 7? Or is it the number 12?

it would be seven because if i needed the answer for 4x then the answer would be 12...thats exactly the problem im having. i tried to use the formula mmodroger suggested, it works with everything above 3 skips but it kicks back wrong answers if the repeat is 2 or 1 repeat...=INDEX(A1:A12,MAX((REPT(D2,3)=(B1:B12&B2:B13&B3:B14))*ROW(B1:B12))+2)

For the following solution, we need to make sure that the data contains column headers or that there's a blank row above the data. Also, the number of times a number needs to be repeated can be changed as desired. So, let's assume that A2:B13 contains the following data...

Let E2 contain the number that needs to be repeated, such as 3.

F2, confirmed with CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER:

=SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(IF($B$2:$B$13=D2,ROW($B$2:$B$13)),IF($B$2:$B$13<>D2,ROW($B$2:$B$13)))=E2,1))

G2, confirmed with CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER:

Note that the number 3 in red does not refer to the number that needs to be repeated. It's a constant and as such doesn't change.
