Hi,
I have an excel file with data input by macro.
I added some data in it and then i saved the file under another name.
Now when I try to open it, the excel pops up with an error saying: excel cannot open the file because the format or file extention is not valid...
But when I save the file as Excel Macro-Enabled workbook it saves and opens just right.
Now, my problem is that i have added bunch of data in my previous saved file and I cannot access them. Is there anyway besides reparing with value to get my original data?
Thanks in advance

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
how and what was it saved as ?

Hi, thanks for the reply. The extension was .xlsm. I decided to change it to . xls and guess what? I opened the file with no restrictions.
Thanks for caring to help.

did you write xls from xlsm or did you save as

xls is upto 2003, 2007 saw the xlsm (macro enabled) and is a different internal file structure.

I saved the file by default. I didn't chose the "save as". Excel saved the file under macro file. I don't have any logical explanation for that behavior but, the difference between my version of the office and the author's version.
