Hi,

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to create new categories for slicers in pivot charts/tables? Essentially I want to be able to make new categories of slicers based on the data already in my table (for example, if I have data in columns 1-10, I want to make a slicer that will group the data from columns 1-3).

Thanks for the help!

If I understand the question, the answer is yes.

It is possible to make a new group from any two (or more) categories in a field using PivotTable Tools > Options > Fields, Items & Sets > Calculated Item

Once you've made the Calculated Item it shows up in your slicer like you can see below.

In this example, I wanted to create a group called Brands A that would combine the brands Appoxyl and ASylo.

Hope this helps!

This is great thanks so much. I'm finding though that when I use the calculated field to create the formula it is also averaging in cells that have blanks as well as cells with values. Is there any way around this?

Thanks again for your help!
