In column A is a list of accounts formatted as text.

In column B is values.

How do I take a sum of the value in column B of all accounts in column A starting with 4, 5 or 7?

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
To return one total for all three:

=SUM(SUMIF(A:A,{"4","5","7"}&"*",B:B))
