How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
Select the data you want to use in the spreadsheet (header labels too),
menu: INSERT tab
click PIVOT TABLE button (1st on left)
click OK to the range
in the far right pane, are the pivot fields,
grab one (top box) and drag to the ROWS (to make this field show in rows)
grab one and drag to COLUMNS for these values to appear as cols.
then grab one to VALUES , these will show in the intersection of the 2.
(you can set this to a sum, or count, etc.)

Thanks, I know all that but it is the next piece where he wants to add
  1. Generate a Pivot table and filtered spreadsheet for each Pivot tables (ALWAYS include the Athlete name): the filtered spreadsheet, then copy /paste next to the pivot table results and they should mirror each other exactly, then there is more stuff

Please do not expect anyone to do the assignment for him/you.
That would be unethical.

as i understand it, it is 2 things,
1. make a pivot,
2. then filter the source data to see 1 atheletes data. (to compare against the pivot i guess)
