Good Afternoon,

=IFERROR(SUMIF('Sales Index'!$C$2:$K$2,B$2,INDEX('Sales Index'!$C$3:$K$200,MATCH($A5,'Sales Index'!$B$3:$B$200,0),0)),0)

<colgroup><col></colgroup><tbody>
</tbody>

The formula is listed above that is working (index and match) but I have a matrix on another tab that has multiple entry lines.
breaking the formula down:
C2:K2 - row headings (months)
C3:K200 - area
A5 - identifier (name)
B3:B200 - name list

Like I said it is index and matching perfectly. but it stops at the first found item and isn't summing the row. I have a drop down built in that will automatically update the month cell. this is why I don't just line all the months up and build it to show all information.

Excel Facts

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
I ended using the following formula because I couldn't get the sumif to work correctly. Let me know if you find something else that works better.

=IFERROR(DSUM('Sales Index'!$B$2:$K$200,MATCH(B$2,'Sales Index'!$B$2:$K$2,0),$A$2:$A8)-SUM($B$3:B7),"")

Control+shift+enter, not just enter:

=SUM(IF('Sales Index'!$C$2:$K$2=B$2,IF('Sales Index'!$B$3:$B$200=$A5,'Sales Index'!$C$3:$K$200)))
