Hi,
I'm having trouble using vlookup which involves "*" as part of the text I am searching for.
for example, my query data is:
ABCD
1A*9A*
2A8
3B7
4C6
5D5

<tbody>
</tbody>

In D1, I am writing VlookUP(C1,A1:B5,2,0). However, this returns 8, when it should be returning 9. What have I forgotten?

Hi, the * is being treated as a wild card and needs escaping with a ~ you can do that like this:

=VLOOKUP(SUBSTITUTE(C1,"*","~*"),A1:B5,2,0)
