Thought this would be a simple calculation, boy am I wrong...

It's just

Code:
=H381/(SUMIFS($D:$D,$B$377:$B$397,B381))


Seems easy enough, divide a number in H by the combined sum of numbers that match "Mercedes" criteria.

Originally I had the criteria range going from B1:B1000 but it didn't work, tried this, still doesn't work.

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
try

$D1:$D1000,$B$1:$B$1000

the two arrays need to be same size
