I am trying to make a stacked column pivot chart with about 15 pieces. The chart will only allow 8 colors then start repeating. When I manually update the colors, the formatting is lost when the pivot chart is changed. How do I allow more than 8 chart fill colors?

Hi and welcome to the board.

I don't know if this is the best solution, but if you can manually do what you want, you could record a macro while you do this, and then assign it to a button (or to an event) to shortcut reapplying the formatting.
