The Absolute Guide to Dashboarding & Reporting with Power BI

Kasper de Jonge does a great job of walking you through a data model, all the way to the finished product. This book really excites me as it has so many nuggets of information that are relevant to data models and Power BI. The data model can be a complex item and can impact your reports in so many ways, but Kasper helps navigate it for you and keeps you on the right course. If you follow the items he has laid out for you, your reports will be in great shape. Pay attention to the sidebars as they can really help you out. You will definitely thank yourself for having read this book!

This book, written by a member of Microsoft’s Power BI team, provides a practical step-by-step guide to creating financial dashboards and reports. The book covers in detail how to combine and shape the relevant data, build reports in Power BI Desktop, prepare the model to work with fiscal dates, and show calculations used in many financial reports, including year-to-date, percentage-of-total, and running total.
