I have used the command:

Code:
Application.IgnoreRemoteRequests = True

successfully to force Excel to open a new instance of Excel if another file is opened.

The above was tested on Excel 2013 but it seems this does not work in Excel 2016, ie subsequent Excel files still open in the same instance of Excel.

Can someone please confirm this?

Thanks

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
i dont see how that line would make a new XL instance.
these lines do:

Code:
Private mXL As Excel.Application

sub btnNew_click()
Set mXL = CreateObject("excel.application")
mXL.Visible = True
mXL.Workbooks.Add
end sub

Imagine I have workbook A.

If I open workbook A (manually), then go to Windows Explorer and double click another Excel file, I want that Excel file to be opened in a separate instance of Excel to that of workbook A.

That is what my code did for Excel 2013 but it doesn't for Excel 2016.
